Privacy Policy

1. Controller

We process personal data only insofar as this is necessary to operate the website, handle enquiries or comply with contractual and legal obligations. Depending on the processing activity, the legal basis may in particular be Article 6(1)(a), (b), (c) or (f) GDPR.

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted on infrastructure provided by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. When the website is accessed, technical information is transmitted to the web server. This may include the IP address, date and time of access, requested file or URL, referrer, browser type and version, and operating system.

The data is processed to provide the website securely and reliably, diagnose errors and defend against attacks. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and functional operation of our online service.

Server log data is retained only for as long as necessary for operation, troubleshooting and security purposes and is then erased or anonymised unless a statutory obligation or a specific security incident requires longer retention.

3. Cookie notice

This product website does not use analytics or marketing cookies. On your first visit, a privacy notice is displayed. Only after you confirm it by clicking OK do we store the cookie lani_cookie_notice with the value 1. It does not contain a user ID and is used solely to prevent the notice from being displayed again for twelve months.

The cookie is stored after your explicit confirmation. The legal basis for storing or accessing information on your device is Section 25(1) TDDDG; insofar as personal data is processed, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can delete the cookie at any time using your browser settings; the notice will then be displayed again on your next visit.

4. No web tracking and no externally loaded web fonts

The current Lan-Inspector product website does not use web analytics or marketing services such as Google Analytics. Fonts are not loaded from Google Fonts or comparable external font services; the site uses system fonts available on the visitor's device.

5. Contact form and e-mail contact

You can contact us through the contact form on this product website or by e-mail. We process the information you provide, in particular company, name, business e-mail address, inquiry type, optional information about the size of your IT environment and your message, in order to process and respond to your inquiry.

For pre-contractual or contract-related inquiries, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR is the legal basis. General business inquiries may be processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. To prevent automated abuse, the contact form uses a spam-protection check that runs entirely on our server. It combines a honeypot field, a signed time-limited challenge, a minimum completion time, one-time token use and server-side rate limiting. For rate limiting, the IP address is processed temporarily only as an HMAC value generated with a secret server key; the IP address is not stored in plain text for this purpose. No external CAPTCHA service is loaded, no CAPTCHA data is transmitted to third parties, and the check uses neither cookies, PHP sessions nor Local Storage. Independently of this, server access may be recorded in the log files described in section 2.

The submitted data is deleted when it is no longer required to process the inquiry, unless statutory retention obligations or other legal grounds require continued storage.

6. VisLogic account for licensing and activation functions

Certain licensing and activation functions may require a VisLogic online account. Registration and login take place on the VisLogic website, not on this product website. According to the existing documentation, the data processed may include a login name, password, contact details of the contact person, company address and, during login, the IP address, date and time.

The data is used to associate licenses, activations and commercial transactions with the customer. Where processing is necessary to perform or enter into a contract, it is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; legally required processing is based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

7. Online activation and deactivation of Lan-Inspector

To technically ensure license-compliant use, activation data may be transmitted to VisLogic in encrypted form. According to the existing activation logic, the following data may be processed:

• unique software and hardware signature of the host system,
• login name and authentication information of the online account used,
• IP address of the host system,
• date and time of the operation.

Processing serves contract performance and technical license assignment (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). The hardware signature required for activation is retained in accordance with the license status and erased following proper deactivation, unless another legal basis requires further retention.

8. Activation of license keys

For the activation of certain license keys, activation data may be requested on a VisLogic page. According to the existing documentation, this can include the Lan-Inspector serial number, contact person's name and e-mail address, company address, IP address, the license key to be activated, and date and time.

The processing is used to assign and activate the purchased license scope and therefore serves contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Contract and licensing data may also be subject to statutory retention obligations.

9. Update and maintenance queries

When product-side update or maintenance functions are used, encrypted information may be transmitted to VisLogic to retrieve version or maintenance information. According to the existing documentation, the information can include software and hardware signature, IP address, serial number, installed version number, and date and time.

The query data itself is not retained as a separate operation after the function has completed, except insofar as the request appears in technical server logs or another legal basis requires retention. The legal basis for contract-related queries is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

10. Your data protection rights

Subject to the statutory requirements, you have in particular the rights of access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), data portability (Article 20) and objection (Article 21). You may withdraw consent with future effect in accordance with Article 7(3) GDPR.

Under Article 77 GDPR, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. For a company established in Schleswig-Holstein, the Independent Centre for Privacy Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD), Holstenstraße 98, 24103 Kiel, Germany, is in particular available as the competent state supervisory authority.
